Earlier this year, they hired chef Jeremy Leven, the former MFK chef who also worked at Gaslight Coffee Roasters in Logan Square. Endorffeine isn’t your cutesy, sun-dappled, Instagram-driven coffee shop—not that there isn’t a place for those, especially in L.A. This is Far East Plaza’s stripped-down espresso stop that fuels you with meticulously measured pulls from Drop Coffee Roasters and Sey Coffee beans, and offers a number of creative caffeinated options in a sleek, minimalist setting. Look for owner (and former biochemist) Jack Benchakul behind the counter, painstakingly preparing drinks like the Thai iced offee made with cold brew, Thai spice and palm sugar, or the fan-favorite vanilla pandan coffee—he's even launched a new line of canned coffee and tea drinks.

That portion of Division is also known for Restaurant Depot, the member-only store for restaurant owners; and Goose Island Shrimp House’s fried seafood. Backline is a term used to describe audio amplification equipment for bands behind the stage; it is required to power live music. We believe that mental health and wellness is just as vital a tool for the music industry. Clean products mean clean environments for farmers at origin—from the land they live on to the water they drink. In 2018, Yonnie Hagos and Ajay Relan first opened in the historically Black neighborhood of View Park-Windsor Hills, hoping to help locals connect, caffeinate and continue the climb towards success. Since then, after being featured on HBO's Insecure, the coffee shop is now backed by showrunner Issa Rae, who's helped Hilltop expand to Inglewood, Eagle Rock and Downtown. And Eagle Rock locations have plenty of tables and a few charging outlets apiece, while the Inglewood shop’s lofted couch seating is more conducive to casual morning or afternoon hangs. We source coffee from all over the world and each coffee has its own unique story to tell.

This spacious and stylish coffee destination is busy no matter the time of day—no surprise, seeing as it’s one of Highland Park’s top shops to grab a cup and a croissant, now with a second location in Downtown L.A.'s Fashion District. The original location's tall ceilings, tiled floors and diverse seating options spread between tables, couches and a patio out back make for a fashionable setting, while the toasts, breakfast burritos, and Sugarbloom Bakery pastries make for a solid meal. The espresso blend rotates frequently, but teas and specialty coffee drinks remain more or less the same. We love the Figueroa, made with sweetened condensed milk, espresso, milk and cinnamon, topped with a Maria Cookie.
Our Mainstream coffees are seasonal, single-origin coffees known for their balanced flavors and accessible flavors. Each coffee is roasted to the degree that highlights cultivar and terroir. Cultivar speaks to the generic variety of the coffee itself, producing flavor profiles that are consistently unique to the region they are born.
Terroir is a French word that means the complete natural environment in which a particular wine is produced, including factors such as the soil, topography, and climate. It originated in the world of wine, but it has a true place in the coffee landscape, and we are proud to highlight these places and the growers behind these spectacular beans. It’s a huge part of why we do what we do, and our commitment to maintaining long standing relationships, and continuing to search for beans from the best regions and the best growers is key to our products success.
When I started out to ensure people had the best coffee experience possible, I realized that not everyone likes the same coffees. Not a shocker to most, but giving our coffees a space to live that defined what they are and why they exist was a big part of Passion House’s evolution. Most of our coffees are single-origin, which means they come from one distinct place around the globe and highlight the unique terroir of that region.

We’re committed to making a positive impact in our communities and supporting organizations like Iris Global, which reaches out to people in need with love and compassion. And we believe that our coffee is not just any coffee, but His coffee – a reflection of the passion and creativity of our Creator. Passion House Coffee Roasters plans to give Goose Island a rare option for food and drink when it opens its third cafe in August, just east of the Kennedy Expressway and the Division Street and Elston Avenue intersection. It’s a bold move within the formerly industrialized area that sees tons of motor vehicle traffic but barely any pedestrians.

From lavender-flavored lattes to single-origin pour-overs, here are our favorite coffee shops across L.A. Millman is impressed with R2’s vision for Goose Island, and sees an opportunity for Passion House to be part of something unique. His coffees, which come in three different genres — ambient, mainstream, and experimental — are aimed as gateways, to cater to different tastes. A die-hard coffee fan may enjoy the experimental Kenyan “Take It Easy” while coffee novices may be more comfy with the ambient “Chicago House” blend.
Millman was a former DJ and a house music fan; Chicago is the birthplace of that musical genre. Passion House provides artisanal coffee and remarkable loose-leaf hot tea and sparkling iced tea with a sprinkling of baked goods. They put as much effort into their tea as they do their coffee.
I’d like to say I turn off, but I’m not sure I can say that honestly, and though sometimes it’s exhausting, the wheel is turning and it doesn’t seem to ever slow down. Whether at a concert or club, I’m able to disconnect just enough and the music serves as a primary source of what drives my thoughts, emotions and ideas. Whether by myself listening to headphones, DJing a party or in a sea of thousands of people, music has a way of resonating through my entire body and I truly feel as though I am as centered as ever. Music eases my fears, shepherds my thoughts through the darkest corners and valleys of my existence and reminds me to be nicer to myself and practice self-love, which seems to have a direct effect on how I treat the people that are part of my life. Passion House opened its first cafe in 2017 in Logan Square.
Is a city constantly on the move, even if it's only at a glacial pace on the freeway. Coffee, and lots of it, preferably paired with a quick breather at one of the city's best coffee shops. Whether it’s paired with a fantastic brunch or enjoyed as midday break from work, a good java spot is as necessary for Angelenos a solid neighborhood taco stand.
Our genre system helps each of these coffees exist in a space that is truly theirs. Our Ambient coffees are blends that are available year-round and highlight regions that feel complement each other when joining forces. These coffees have a well-defined flavor profile and we take these opportunities to create coffees we believe stand out above the crowd and spotlight our knack for roasting and blending. They are the cultural melting pots of our coffee universe.

The Chicago House blend is inspired by the genre of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago in the early 1980s. House music has been a staple in the Chicago music scene and this blend is a staple in our line-up. A fine blend of coffees from Latin America and Africa that combine to bring out notes of milk chocolate, almond and lemon zest. This blend is balanced with flavors that will move your body and go on and on.
