Inside the cafe, a library-like atmosphere—complete with fireplace—makes it feel like you’re chilling at home, while outside is more casual with a back patio and some tables on the front sidewalk. Brunch, when omelettes and French toast galore get shuttled out of the kitchen to chic Valley dwellers. Our philosophy is simple; find coffee farmers, coffee importers and coffee enthusiasts that share the same passion for the art of coffee; and collectively create quality coffees. Over the years, we have developed a deep passion and enormous amount of respect for the art of coffee.

Bassline Espresso Blend
Our goal is to produce nuanced, complex, and clean coffee while cultivating relationships with the farms. These relationships are rooted in understanding, knowledge, skill, service and mutual respect. We shoot for the stars when curating our menu, searching for the best coffees available at any given time, setting the expectations extremely high. We specialize in strong relationships with the farms, traveling around the world to find the right beans from the right farms to get the right coffee. Passion House moved its roastery operations to the East Garfield Park building in 2019 from the Near West Side with plans to open a cafe on the north side of the 25,000-square-foot warehouse. Backline is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources.

They also offer fresh pastries and breakfast burritos, just in case all that caffeine isn't fuel enough. This charming Historic Filipinotown café offers all-day fare that's worth lingering over—already an easy feat, given the free Wi-Fi and creative coffee there, too. Small-batch, seasonal pastries like passion fruit pie with graham cracker crust; pecan and caramel coffee cake; and blackberry rhubarb galettes are so good you won't want to share, and go great with pour-over coffee and specials like vanilla-and-orange cappuccinos. A casual menu of rice bowls, breakfast sandwiches and toasts should do the trick, and if you want to bring the magic home, Doubting Thomas has its own blend of beans—as well as house-made concentrates for matcha, chai and beyond—which you can buy on-site. Sodikoff’s presence is meaningful to Millman, as bringing in a well-known restauranteur shows to him how serious R2 is about bringing something unique to the area.
Brazilian Arabica – Light Roast
You can find them stashed in the monthly coffee boxes, or drop by either the Silver Lake or West Hollywood locations for a full espresso menu, neon-lit settings and, of course, whatever the daily selection of these faves might be. Expect tonics and canned coffees and bubbly shrub sodas in addition to every classic coffee drink you could want, as well as home equipment, trendy merch and pastries. In a big way—especially in its new-ish Arts District location, a 7,000-square-foot, two-story café and coffee roastery that's now the L.A. The all-day menu here features a flexible kind of global cuisine, not to mention a handful of truly good coffee-based mocktails exclusive to that space. Hyper curated and hyper technical, Highland Park's Kumquat Coffee is a caffeine lover's paradise.
Eater Chicago
After working as a barista in Chicago, I ventured west to San Diego where I helped open and manage a café in downtown, and though the west coast was truly one of the most amazing places I had ever been, the heartbeat of the Midwest (and in particular Chicago) beckoned me back. Ten years later, I can proudly say what we have built as a team is something that I cherish at my core, and I truly can’t wait to see what the next ten years and beyond have in store. The location is closing so Millman and his team can focus on the Goose Island cafe and open a second one in the same building as the roastery at 328 N. Albany Ave., which has been a long time coming, the owner wrote on social media.
The amount of care, attention, and hard work that goes into producing quality coffee; getting it from the ground to the cup; is something we are very passionate about and take serious. In addition to overseeing the whole roasting works, he invests a lot of time building relationships with farms and importers all over the world. Go Get Em Tiger is the growing coffee empire by Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski, a duo whose original G&B Coffee stall just so happens to be its own staple at Grand Central Market. With eight locations currently running throughout the city, Go Get Em Tiger has fast become a hometown chain with consistency, but with enough charm and nuance at each outpost to keep things fresh. Customers can choose from to-go goods and grab-and-go bottles of house-made cold brew, or take a patio seat to take in the funky, fun spaces with pastries, brunchy bites and retail items.
All four cafés also have Wi-Fi, charging outlets and at least a few couches, and the Redondo Beach flagship has the most space and outdoor seating. Named after a competitive French cycling term, this small bike-friendly coffee shop in Culver City offers excellent breakfast burritos, market-priced single-origin matcha and a deep commitment to the surrounding community. Super Domestic's larger Washington Boulevard sister spot, Mañana Coffee, also sells a bevy of plants and other assorted artisan goods. Both coffee shops roast their own beans and make all alternative milks and syrups in-house, for quality you can taste in every sip. Verve Coffee Roasters
Being tea lovers, we decided to order their sparkling white tea and their hot black tea. The white tea tasted as clear as it looked and was extremely refreshing while basking in the sunlight. Their black tea had a slight smoky flavor to it that added to its intensity and reminded me of a smoky Russian tea.

Last month, it opened another cafe inside Politan Row, the West Loop food hall that shares a building with McDonald’s Corporation’s headquarters. Later this year, Passion House will move its roasting operations from Fulton Market to East Garfield Park. They’re sharing the facility with Veteran Roasters, a company that helps vets get jobs after their time in the armed forces. At Passion House, we strive to create balanced and complex coffees with our meticulous method of sourcing beans from farms around the world and roasting them by hand on a vintage 1957 German Probat cast-iron roaster. Over the last two decades, coffee has taken me around the globe, exposing me to various cultures that will forever have an impact on my life.
But when we get down to the nitty gritty, the team we have built at Passion House is the thing I am most proud of. People are the lifeblood of this company, and their commitment to each other, the product and creating the best experience for all is what we strive to achieve every day. We are proud to serve you at one of our two locations (Goose Island & Logan Square), and our Roastery in East Garfield Park will soon be open to the public as a café as well. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you, and are so appreciative of the customers that continue to show that what we’re doing has value and impact. Formerly a private home, Aroma Coffee & Tea Company transformed itself into a darling café where you can grab a coffee, slice of cake or full-on meal. The expansive coffee and tea menu caters to everyone, from the espresso lover to the chai-latte enthusiast.
As a newer edition to Logan Square, Passion House Coffee Roasters does not disappoint. Located in the former Bow Truss Coffee Roasters space, Passion House has a minimal aesthetic with hip and trendy plant decor. They have a small counter area to sit at along with a medium-sized backroom and a small outdoor patio area. Formerly known as Farm Girl, Flor del Sol is our offering of sunshine and warm, Midwestern hospitality.
The music industry is limited in their access to care, and Backline has built a variety of clinically-focused programs to address that. Let’s create a safer and more supported music industry, together. We look forward to being a part of your coffee journey in discovering your favorite region, roast level, brew method, etc. We have a variety of amazing coffees and, of course, suggest you try them all. To make it easier to navigate our coffee menu, our coffees are in three different genres. Passion House is a small-batch specialty coffee roaster who began roasting in 2011 in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood.
Passion House’s cafe will take up about 1,200 square feet; it’s slightly larger than Logan Square. They’ll have a full menu of items including overnight oats, and a vegetable tartine. Vegetarians can try a tartine instead of a veggie sandwich (Millman said bland sandwiches are often menu staples at many coffee shops).
